In one of his poems, Jorge Luis Borges once alluded to a sorrow so private that he wanted no one to know about it, not even the mirror:

On the other side of the door, a man,
compounded of solitude, of love, of time,
has just wept in Buenos Aires
over the way things are.

On December 31st 1978, this poem was published in La Nacion, under the title, “Elegy.”
